The Single Story-Chimananda Ngozi Adichie

I saw this woman speak aat The Auckland Readers' and Writers' Festival this year. She's a great speaker and I was so impressed that I bought her book. This really resonates with me as having lived in so many countries and heard the "single story" so many times. My favourite part is when she said, "The problem with stereotypes is not that they are true, but that they are incomplete.".

She was a really good speaker at the festival, too. I've got one of her books on my shelf, but I haven't got to it yet. Maybe I'll go for that one next. When are you going to update your blog! We miss you in the blogosphere:-(

Chimamanda is a fantastically gifted writer, I've had the video for this speech she gave on my Facebook page for months because its so illuminating. She has 3 books published, which one do you have? Purple Hibiscus and Half A Yellow Sun both draw you into Nigerian culture so quickly you won't be able to stop reading. Her third book, The Thing Around You Neck, a short story collection, I will be reading next week.

The Thing around Your Neck is the one I've got. She read an excerpt from it at the R & W Fest and I was sold. She really has such presence!
